On October 16, 1998, NW Natural filed Advice No. 98-20, an application for a general rate increase of $14,739,911, or 3.8%, in Oregon revenues. At its Public Meeting on November 17, 1998, the Commission found good and sufficient cause to investigate the propriety and reasonableness of the rates pursuant to ORS 757.210 and 757.215 and ordered the rates be suspended for a period of six months pending investigation. (Order No. 98-437). In Order No. 99-343, the Commission subsequently ordered an additional 3-month suspension of Advice No. 98-20. The Commission will not complete its investigation in this case prior to the expiration of the second suspension period. In a letter of August 6, 1999, NW Natural stipulated to the extension of the suspension of Advice No. 98-20 through November 1, 1999.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that Advice No. 98-20 filed by Northwest Natural Gas Company on October 16, 1998, is suspended through November 1, 1999
