ORDER

DISPOSITION: DOCKET CLOSED

On January 21, 1999, U S WEST Communications, Inc., filed with the Commission a Petition for Expedited Rulemaking with Abbreviated Notice for Temporary Rules Pertaining to Unauthorized PIC Changes. MCI WorldCom and AT&T Communications of the Pacific Northwest, Inc., filed motions to dismiss the petitions. In its Staff Report for the February 5, 1999, Special Public Meeting, the Commission Staff recommended that the Commission deny U S WEST’s petition, and retain the option to readdress intraLATA slamming should it become an immediate issue. The Commission adopted Staff’s recommendation. On August 3, 1999, U S WEST filed a letter stating that it believes that with the implementation of the FCC’s anti-slamming rules this spring, its petition has been rendered moot and requests that the docket be closed. There is no reason to keep this docket open.

ORDER
