DISPOSITION: APPLICATION DISMISSED

On September 8, 1998, Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County (EDA) filed an application for authority to provide telecommunications service in Oregon, and classification as a competitive telecommunications provider. The application requests authority to provide service in all local exchanges of Pioneer Telephone Cooperative (Pioneer) in Lane, Lincoln, and Douglas counties in Oregon. On October 5, 1998, U S WEST Communications, Inc., filed a petition to intervene, and Pioneer filed a protest to the application.

A procedural conference was scheduled, and then canceled at the request of applicant. On November 27, 1998, EDA requested that its application be placed in abeyance pending further developments. On May 7, 1999, EDA requested that its application be dismissed without prejudice.

No reason exists to continue consideration of EDA’s application. The application should be dismissed and this docket closed.
