DISPOSITION: RATE SCHEDULES SUSPENDED

On December 1, 1997, Portland General Electric Company (PGE) filed rate schedules in Advice No. 97-20 to be effective January 7, 1998. The terms of the proposed schedules were set forth in a Staff Report dated December 30, 1997.

At its January 6, 1998, public meeting, the Public Utility Commission of Oregon found that good and sufficient cause exists to investigate the propriety and reasonableness of the rates pursuant to ORS 759.210 and 759.215. The Commission ordered suspension of the advice pending that investigation. On January 6, 1998, Order No. 98-015 was entered suspending Advice No. 97-20 for a six-month period of time.

On June 12, 1998, the Commission entered Order No. 98-237 extending the suspension period for an additional period not exceeding three months pursuant to ORS 757.215(1).

The Commission will not complete its investigation in this case prior to the expiration of the second suspension period. In a letter of September 18, 1998, PGE stipulated to the extension of the suspension of Advice No. 97-20 until January 31, 1999. Accordingly, the suspension should be extended until January 31, 1999.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that Advice No. 97-20 filed by Portland General Electric Company on December 1, 1997, is suspended until January 31, 1999.
