ORDER

DISPOSITION: RECONSIDERATION GRANTED

On March 13, 1998, we issued Order No. 98-094 addressing issues raised in Phase II of this proceeding. On May 12, 1998, GTE Northwest Incorporated and U S WEST Communications, Inc., filed applications for reconsideration of Order

No. 98-094. No party filed a response to the applications. In this order, we grant reconsideration and announce that we will soon issue an order discussing the issues raised in reconsideration.

ORS 756.561 authorizes the Commission to grant a request for reconsideration if sufficient reason appears to warrant reconsideration. OAR 860-014-0095 provides that an application for reconsideration will be deemed denied if not granted within 60 days of the filing of the application. The issues raised in the applications for reconsideration fundamentally impact the universal service program. We want to review the record and give additional consideration to the arguments raised in the applications for reconsideration. We therefore issue this order granting the applications for reconsideration.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that the applications for reconsideration of Order No. 98-094 are granted.
