DISPOSITION: SUSPENSION PERIOD EXTENDED

On July 16, 1997, Northwest Natural Gas Company (NNG) filed a special service contract and associated tariff sheets in Advice No. 97-17 to be effective October 23, 1997. At its October 21, 1997, public meeting, the Public Utility Commission found good and sufficient cause exists to investigate the propriety and reasonableness of the contract and tariff sheets pursuant to ORS 757.210 and 757.215. The Commission ordered suspension of the advice for six months, pending that investigation. The original suspension period, effectuated by Order No. 97-409, was to expire on April 23, 1998.

The Commission requires additional time to investigate the propriety and reasonableness of NNG’s Advice. The suspension period will therefore be extended for three months, pursuant to ORS 757.215, to expire on July 23, 1998.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that Advice No. 97-17, filed by Northwest Natural Gas Company, is suspended for a period of time not to exceed three months from April 23, 1998, the expiration date of the original six-month suspension period.
