ORDER ON RECONSIDERATION

DISPOSITION: RECONSIDERATION GRANTED

On March 18 , 1997, we issued Order No. 97-107 adopting dialing parity policies for local exchange carriers. Applications for reconsideration have been filed by GTE Northwest, United Telephone Company of the Northwest, and U S WEST.

The first application for reconsideration was filed on April 16, 1997, and the last application was filed on May 19, 1997. Commission Rule OAR 860-014-0095 allows parties 15 days to respond to an application for reconsideration. AT&T, MCI, USWC, and the Commission’s Staff have filed responses to the applications. According to ORS 756.575 and OAR 860-014-0095, an application for reconsideration is deemed denied if not acted on by the 60th day after the application is filed. The 60th day since the filing of the first application for reconsideration is June 16, 1997.

The Commission wants to issue one order addressing all the issues raised in the applications for reconsideration. However, there is insufficient time between the filing of the responses to the last application and the date on which the first application is deemed denied to fully consider the issues raised. Therefore, the Commission is issuing this order granting the applications for reconsideration but not addressing the merits of the arguments. As soon as possible, the Commission will issue an order addressing the merits of the issues raised in the applications for reconsideration.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that the Commission will reconsider Order No. 97-107 and issue another order addressing the merits of the issues raised in the applications for reconsideration.
