SUPPLEMENTAL ORDER

DISPOSITION: TARIFF SCHEDULES SUSPENDED

On May 29, 1996, GTE Northwest (GTE) filed Advice No. 578, to be effective July 17, 1996, to authorize intraLATA equal access in all of its central offices. We suspended the Advice at our July 16, 1996, public meeting. Our decision was memorialized in Order No. 96-184, issued on July 16, 1996. In Order No. 96-341, we extended the period of suspension until April 17, 1997. In Order No. 96-202 we broadened the scope of the proceeding to address dialing parity issues on a generic basis, and made all local exchange carriers in Oregon parties to this proceeding. On March 18, 1997, we issued Order No. 97-107 adopting dialing parity policies for local exchange carriers.

This proceeding was originally commenced when GTE filed its Advice No. 578, but, as stated above, the proceeding was later broadened to include all local exchange carriers (LECs) in Oregon. The LECs will be filing tariffs to implement the policies adopted in Order No. 97-107. GTE's Advice No. 578 will be superseded by the new tariff GTE files in compliance with Order No. 97-107. Therefore, Advice No. 578 should be permanently suspended.

ORDER

IT IS ORDERED that Advice No. 578 filed by GTE is permanently suspended.
