ORDER |
DISPOSITION: INVESTIGATION OPENED AS DOCKET UM 826
This order is entered under ORS 756.515 to open an investigation into a permanent database solution to local number portability. Database number portability is also known as permanent number portability and as local number portability (LNP).
A work group to monitor database number portability issues was established under Order No. 96-021. That order also required periodic reports to the Commission. Staff reports were made at the Commission’s June 18, and December 17, 1996, public meetings.
At its December 17, 1996, public meeting, the Commission adopted Staff’s report, which is attached as Appendix A and incorporated by reference.
ORDER
IT IS ORDERED that:
An investigation shall be opened, under ORS 756.515, into LNP and shall be docketed as UM 826.
The work group formed under Order No. 96-021 to monitor LNP issues is terminated.
Staff is directed to continue to participate in, and monitor, LNP-related activities and work sessions of the Washington Exchange Carriers’ and the Oregon Exchange Carriers Associations’ core team.
