DISPOSITION: DOCKET CLOSED
In August 1993, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (NMFTA) petitioned the Commission to amend its administrative rules to require common and contract carriers whose tariffs or contracts refer to, or are governed by, a tariff issued by a tariff bureau to be a member of the tariff bureau.
The Commission initiated this proceeding to consider the proposed amendments. Thereafter, in 1994, Congress preempted most state laws governing motor carrier rates and tariffs. Effective January 1, 1996, the motor carrier regulatory authority of the Commission will be transferred to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Based on these changes, this docket should be closed. If NMFTA deems the proposed rule still appropriate, it may petition the Oregon Department of Transportation after January 1, 1996.
IT IS ORDERED THAT Docket Number AR 282 is closed.
