UM 2314-1 | 1/25/2024 5:09:06 PM | PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC | General Comment | Web | WILSONVILLE | The job of the commission is work for the people of the state of Oregon. The rate increases that you have signed off on as it relates to PGE is irresponsible at the very least. The customers (state residents) are being held hostage by PGE. They are passing the cost of their ill run utility company onto the citizens of the state of Oregon. Now it is being reported that they want to pass along the cost of the storm repair/damage to us as well. If this is truly the case, I urge you to think twice before allowing this to occur. We the people should once again not be responsible for bailing them out. They should be held to the same standards as everyone else. As private citizens, we cannot pass along our misfortune, or poor situational management onto someone else. It is time for PGE to be held to account for their inability to run a utility company effectively and efficiently.
UM 2314-2 | 2/5/2024 11:08:16 AM | PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC | General Comment | Web | April | Bacewich | NEWBERG | I am sure the dire situations we find ourselves in all areas started long ago. But currently, our community continues to be massively and negatively impacted in one serious area, by the significant inability PG&E displays to manage the electricity for 900,000 customers. How has this Monopoly been allowed to continue? The rates are simply put, astronomical. No one in the public sector seems to be talking about this. Inclement weather is going to continue. And the future models predict more dramatic swings. People died this last round. 65K + people lost power and suffered immensely. PG&E did not manage well, doesn’t not manage well, and cannot singularly handle our future needs as a community. Who actually keeps the Utility companies in check? Why aren’t those efforts and parameters NOT working? Who advocates for the elderly on a fixed income. (Not create another assistance program!!) who FIGHTS for single moms sharing one can of Ravioli a day between her six kids to survive days with no heat. This is 2024!!! Not 1904! We need competition in this space not only to hopefully reduce rates, ?? but mostly to help manage the safety of our community. Isn’t that the buzz word post pandemic, “Safe”? Well, many, many Oregonians were NOT safe during this last storm and PG&E was completely overwhelmed and has proven themselves to be inept many years running. No one can control the weather and wind, but there can be constructs to how much ONE company controls the communities wellbeing. Both your mission statement and the mission statement of PG&E states “reliable and affordable”. It’s simply NOT reality.
UM 2314-3 | 2/19/2024 12:32:37 AM | 2/16/2024 8:51:25 AM | General Comment | jbetsyrd@gmail.com | To whom it may concern, I'm quite concerned with PGE asking for another rate hike to cover the costs associated with the ice storm. It's already disgusting that consumers have to cover their costs for their negligence during the fires. I do not understand what they actually are doing with the funds they extract from consumers. Perhaps they should implement some preventative measures to avoid these catastrophies. It would be reasonable for the shareholders to stop raking in profits and, for once, invest in the company and not expect us to cover their share yet again. I seriously hope you do not allow them to increase rates. I can barely cover my bill now. I make $200/year above their cutoff for assistance. I can't imagine how much harder it is for others with fewer resources. The very least they could do is adjust that amount proportionate with every increase they have implemented. Please think of citizens instead of corporations this time. Jocelyn Malear
UM 2314-4 | 2/17/2024 5:14:05 PM | PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC | General Comment | Web | Scott | Betterly | GRESHAM | You keep letting PGE raise rates for random reasons yet their CEO makes 6 mil a year. I am om energy assistance and could barely cover the cost of electric before. Now the rumor is that PGE wants to raise rates again for the ice storm well my computer and refrigerator didn't work after the ice storm do I send PGE the bill to repair them? What you're doing is wrong and it is making people have to decide between food or power like myself. SHAME ON YOU

UM 2314-7 | 2/15/2024 9:57:24 AM | PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC | General Comment | Web | Ronda | Rozzell | KEIZER | I read on-line about PGE wanting to have its customers absorb the cost for the ice storm in January, 2024. We just had a price hike in the last few months, please give us another price hike to bear the cost of this natural disaster. Please have PGE find better avenues for these costs. I appreciate your time and consideration. |
