ADV 1529-1 | 1/24/2024 2:22:23 PM | PACIFIC POWER | General Comment | Web | Theresa | Fredrickson | GATES | Hello ~ I was shocked at the increase in my electric bill this month!! This is not fair to the general consumer of our much needed utility (Pacific Power) as this 18% INCREASE is for wildfire mitigation, which most of us in the Willamette Valley were not affected by. THIS INCREASE SHOULD BE UNDER 'COST OF DOING BUSINESS' as mitigation is a preventative measure for PACIFIC POWER in the future. I have owned and operated several businesses (including a weekly newspaper) and costs like this were placed under the 'cost of doing business' category and paid by ME to better my product and protect my customers. Why must you place such a large burden on the backs of private citizens not affected by the wildfires? Eighteen percent is a drastic rate increase and I cannot fathom why the PUC would allow this outlandish rate adjustment! Due to inflated costs of rent, fuel, taxes, groceries and child care, PLEASE reconsider this drastic rate hike. Residing in the state of Oregon is getting to be a luxury with many leaving the state because they are unable to afford the cost of living - which helps explain the many homeless on the streets. Tell Ms. Kotek if she wants to make a difference then stop this insanity at the PUC! Thank you for your time in reading this. |
