| 11/3/2024 7:02:54 PM | General Comment | Jo | Jeffries | Today ( 11-3-24) I experienced three "glitches" that cost me a minimum of 15 minutes each to fix my clocks, restart my iron, wait at least 5 min. each time to reconnect my internet, and restart my dryer for my wet clothes. Yesterday, there were two 'glitches'. On 10-28-24 there was 1, on 10-25-24 there was 1 on 10-24-24, shall I go on? Today, I estimated each 'glitch' cost me a minimum of 45 minutes for today. That is almost an hour of aggravation and the realization that Pacific Power is unreliable. You may think a small (in time) 'glitch' if ok, but, it is no ok with me. I want to know what you all are doing about this. I live in Malin and can't believe other people aren't upset about this. In my opinon Pacific Power is unreliable and uncaring about the service I pay for. Since I have moved to this area (August 2, 2024) I have experience no less that 11 outages that last anywhere from 6 hours to 15-30 seconds. I am tired of these interruptions in my daily and work life. I pay for this service. And, don't tell me that it's a bird on the wire. I want to know what you are going to and when are you going to give me reliable, consistent service! Also, I think I am due a rebate in my bill eveytime this happens. If i ran a donut shop and you paid me in advance for one. When I told you sorry you can't have one today, wouldn't you expect a refund?? I would like a response to this comment. |
| 9/1/2025 2:15:53 PM | General Comment | Bryan | Smith | I writing with regard to the power outage that is taking place on 9/1/2025 in NE Portland with Pacific Power: THIS IS RIDICULOUS! It has been over 11 hours since we lost electricity and still no timeline on when it will be restored. There was no storms, no wind, no trees falling, no lightning and yet it's 11 hours and counting. This is unacceptable and the PUC should hold Pacific Power accountable! |
| 9/3/2025 2:51:30 PM | General Comment | Eric | Rosenberry | Email received by Commission office - email contents added by CS 9-3-25 by dr Date: Tue, Sep 2, 2025 at 6:09?PM Subject: A note on the Pacific Power Labor Day power outage in Portland To: <puc.commission@puc.oregon.gov> I am not a customer in the Pacific Power area of Portland (I am in a PGE area), but I watched that outage on Labor Day with astonishment. https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2025/09/more-than-12000-customers-still-without-power-in-portland.html For a holiday day (with no external factors such as storms), that is a very embarrassing and elongated outage for Pacific Power to have had. This really underscores how fragile parts of our grid are. Pacific Power should be forced to sell/trade/swap that area of Portland with PGE (along with the small section in downtown Portland). It makes no sense for that to operate as an island. The Pacific system should be fully integrated into the PGE system using the same distribution voltages. All of the feeders should be tied to adjacent substations such that even in the event of a full substation loss, most everything can be restored rapidly via switching. Pacific also has limited crews in the area to respond to emergencies due to their limited footprint. Had PGE serviced that area they would likely have been able to muster more resources in a shorter period of time. (PGE also has generally been more proactive with equipment upgrades and redundancy, I can tell what part of town I am in often by the age of the infrastructure) The PUC should take a more active role in encouraging these kind of logical consolidations and equipment standardization. There should also be more accountability than "equipment failure" as nearly assuredly there was a lack of capital investment and/or human factors to the failure. -Eric |
